This is my Abuelo Gerardo. Ever since I was little he would tell us countless stories about the beauty of Venezuela and his childhood. My father, who was born here in the U.S., would spend his summers there while growing and always told my five siblings and I how much he wishes that he could of taken us to the Venezuela that he knew as a child; the Venezuela that my grandfather and his family grew up in and lived a happy, simple life. The state that Venezuela is in and the conditions that many there are living in is absolutely horrific. Still, I have relatives who live there under the terrible circumstances and state that the country is in. Yesterday, millions of Venezuelans around the world came together to show their voice and the strength of the people as a whole. It was incredible seeing the Venezuelan community come together in support of those suffering under the government and in hope of a free Venezuela.
